WHO ARE WE?

We are people in the oil patch (operators, drilling contractors, and service companies) who share a common interest in bass fishing and the desire to learn more about the sport and places to bass fish.  The club provides a setting in which we can fish and socialize in an atmosphere of good fellowship. You do not have to belong in the oilfield to join.

WHAT’S OUR HISTORY?

Our club is one of the oldest organized bass club in the South, being formed by a group of Lafayette oilmen back in 1967.  We have a set of by-laws which provide for a club membership limit of 85 and an annually elected slate of officers.

WHAT’S OUR SCHEDULE?

The club fishes ten (10) tournaments per year, one (1) per month from February thru November.  One tournament each year is a club challenge with the Houston Oilmen’s Bass Club. Refreshments are provided at most tournaments as well as cookouts at selected tournaments.  We also hold monthly meetings throughout the year at which we review club business and listen to the occasional guest speaker.  Monthly newsletters through emails keep all members updated on club news.

In addition and primarily for the significant ladies in our lives, the club holds an annual banquet in January and tries to hold another event with the ladies in our lives.

WHERE DO WE FISH?

The club fishes a variety of sites including the Basin, Henderson, Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn, Lake Fork, Bayou Black, Cleco, Amelia, False River, Bayou Teche, and other sites nominated by the tournament committee. The tournament schedule is set each year prior to the January banquet.   The majority of the tournaments are pick your own partner (member or guest), but we also hold members only events such as draw tournaments and assignment tournaments so we can meet and fish with other club members. The club tournaments at Toledo and Rayburn usually coincide with the bigger oilfield tournaments such as LOBI, the Classic, ROC and Toledo Bend Oilman’s.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

We pay annual dues of $140.00 to cover the expenses of the club for the year.  The dues cover the costs for all of the tournaments and refreshments, door prizes, cookouts, and the annual banquet and State tournament membership.
